The school I am interested in is the issue of dress codes. I believe that there is nothing wrong with school dress codes. In fact, my girlfriend was the one who got the dress code implimented at McGloughlin Middle School this year. Even teachers have to follow the dress code guidlines. Which got me thinking. Is that common practice for students to have a dress code and the teachers have a seperate one. I think that teachers in general have an unwritten dress code policy, as long as it looks semi professional then it is okay. I also think that teachers in general do a good job of maintaining thier professionalism. So I came across an artical that talked about a state government in Australia might require teachers to follow the dress code that they impliment for thier students. I think that this is only fair. Even though we are adults and free to make our own choices. Yet I think that teachers have to lead by example.

I am not in favor of any dress code where what I.m required to wear doesn't leave me comfortable to do my best work. My job as a teacher is to be sure my students leave my room with the skills required to succeed in life and in the classroom. If I can do this better my getting down and dirty in my shorts and fleece shirt then I'm all for dressing the way that's going to bring about the most success. I also don't think that kids give better dressed teachers more respect. they give respect to the teachers that treat them in the most caring and friendly way.
